Dr. James Foley M.D.; F.A.C.S.

Breast Augmentation has been done successfully for over 35 years and is a safe procedure, which usually takes an hour or less done under local anesthesia and IV sedation.

The majority of women are having their breasts augmented so that they may fill out their shape to wear clothes without using additional support or padding. The saline implants have a silicone shell. This is otherwise know as silastic and has been shown in the last two years in major studies to not cause any medical harm to women.

Any one of the following feelings or conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for breast augmentation:

  • You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts are too small
  • weight loss has changed the size or shape of your breasts
  • after having children, your breast have become smaller and lost their firmness
  • dresses that fit well around your hips are often too large around your bustline
  • one of your breasts is noticeably smaller than the other
  • you feel self conscious wearing a swimsuit or a form fitting top.

Incisions are made to keep
scars as inconspicuous as possible,
underneath the breast just above the crease.

After surgery,
scars will fade
with time
.

The operation allows a woman to live her life with perhaps more personal self-confidence and has a long lasting effect. It is possible, however, the implants may not last the lifetime of the individual, but they can be replaced readily, if need be. Also, the presence of implants does not hinder the ability to nurse a child nor later on in life obtain adequate and proper mammograms.
